I think I am going to check Facebook and Orkut at most once or twice a week, to reply on any pending messages. That's it :)

Well, it's your point of view but I think everyone is free to use the service as they please as long as they do not break the Terms of Service. That said, yes, it is a bit annoying to read personal rants from people whose personal lives you're hardly interested in. But say, you've a close friend you're following on Twitter, you may always find their personal rants interesting.

It's good that you think before you share stuff. Cuts down the noise :)

I totally agree with this and wanted to post similar thoughts too. That is the reason I follow very less people on Twitter and not actually get updates on my phone from many of them in my follow list who really update very quickly. But there is still this 'personal rant' on Twitter that I hate. Once in a while it is ok but there are people I follow who tell me every night the quality of jog they had or people who just keep updating their tweets with a lot of personal information. I am sure that personal info of every moment of anyone's life is perhaps the least useful.

If one needs to go personal, it should be Facebook rather. I carefully decide everytime I share something: Should I tweet it or is it better for FB or is it good for Google reader only. The more instantaneous the form of communication on Web, I feel the less intrusive one should be with his/her own personal information.

I hate everyone's love for complete noise. Yesterday I saw people commenting on fortune cookies, and I don't know why I find that weird. The only solution I've come to is to use Facebook only to send me messages, forward my responses and sometimes to make people happy by accepting their friend requests.

I was one of the first people to switch to the Lite version. And since there's no pushing the switch back up if you've pushed the switch down once, I'm a happy person once again.
